Presentation

Among the Biological Sciences, Zoology brings together professionals who seek to describe and classify animal species, discover their phylogenetic relationships, and understand the processes that have generated and still maintain their incredible diversity. Zoologists also contribute to the building of our knowledge about ecology and behavior of animals and, in this way, for their preservation. The Graduate Program in Zoology of UFMG aims to contribute to these important missions, offering its students an integrative training on various aspects of Zoology, with emphasis on systematics and evolutionary biology. We hope that the masters and doctors trained by us will be able to advance the knowledge about the biodiversity of Brazil and the World, and to transmit this knowledge, not only to their colleagues in the Academy, but also to the general public.
