Frédéric Frézard is a Professor at the Physiology and Biophysics Department at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) since 1997. He is known for his expertise in the areas of membrane biophysics, drug and metallopharmaceuticals carrying nanosystems. Since 1992, Frédéric Frézard has been researching and developing several strategies for drug carrying and delivery, including bioactive peptides, aiming new formulations and vaccines. One of the main purposes of his research is to control the neglected disease leishmaniasis. Since 2000, Professor Frézard has made significant contributions to antimonial drugs pharmacology and improvement of their delivery by chemical and nanotechnological basis. He also participates in the applications for 8 international and 15 international patents and is one of the creators of a cosmeceutical formulation using lipid nanosystems, which went on the open market in Brazil in 2018.
