    This focus area comprises the knowledge related to research on intellectual property, patents, technology transfer processes, pharmaceutical and biotechnological innovation processes, as well as the associated legal procedures.

    This area contemplates the following lines of research:

    1- Intellectual property, patents, and technology transfer.
    2- Innovation and development systems: legal, economic, and social issues

  • Focus area: “Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship”

    This focus area studies the mechanisms used to manage the innovation process and practical and theoretical knowledge on structuring an organization in order to achieve innovation, competence building and organizational learning.

    This area contemplates the following lines of research:

    1- Economics of Science and Technology
    2- Social and Technological Innovation in Organizations
    3- Entrepreneurship, Work, and Competence

  • Focus area: “Biopharmaceutical and Technological Innovation”

    This focus area covers essential scientific knowledge for the development of critical stages of technological innovation in the biopharmaceutical and biotechnology areas. This knowledge refers to: the discovery and production of new drugs and other products of pharmaceutical and biotechnological interest; the development and production of pharmaceutical formulations, with emphasis on nanosystem drug carriers; preclinical experimental models, currently available for different pathologies and for human and animal diseases; the methods and tests used for evaluation of efficacy and toxicity of new products; the regulatory aspects of intellectual property protection; and introduction of innovation management.

    This area contemplates the following lines of research:
    1- Development of new drugs and biopharmaceuticals
    2- Biotechnological approaches in drug development
    3- Controlled release drug delivery systems and nanostructured systems
    4- Humoral and neural control of cardiovascular and renal systems
    5- Intermediary metabolism
    6- Preclinical toxicity
