Graduated in Biological Sciences (bachelor’s degree: Biochemistry and Immunology) from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1993) and doctorate in Biochemistry and Immunology with emphasis on Molecular Biology from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1999). In 1999 until 2003 she did his postdoctoral internship at the University of Maryland in Baltimore-USA under the supervision of Prof. WJ Lederer (Cell Biophysics / Cardiac Physiology). She was Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland Biotechnology Center- at the Institute of Molecular Cardiology (USA) from 2003 to 2004. She is currently Associate Professor IV in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics-ICB, at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. She coordinates the Graduate Program in Biological Sciences: Physiology and Pharmacology (CAPES 7). She served as Visiting Professor of Pediatrics at Boston Childrens Hospital / Harvard Medical School for the 2016-2017 period. She has experience in the field of cardiac physiology, with an emphasis on genetic engineering and molecular cardiology, working mainly on the following topics: nanotechnology and bioengineering, intracellular signaling, cardiomyocytes, cardiac dysfunction and generation of new genetically modified models
